A 25-year-old man, Ocan Patrick, from Lamogi Village in Ladotonen Parish, Kiteny Subcounty, Kitgum District, has been arrested for allegedly killing his 19-year-old brother, Odong Denish, over a debt of 2,000 shillings on January 6, 2025.
The incident occurred around 3:00 PM in Lamogi Village following a dispute between the brothers over the unpaid debt. The argument escalated, leading Ocan to use a pounding stick taken from the home of his in-law, Kidega Bosco, to strike Odong on the head. Odong succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to Namokora Health Center IV.
Police have classified the case as murder, visited the scene, and gathered witness statements. The body of the deceased is currently at Namokora Health Center IV, awaiting a postmortem examination. The suspect is being held at Kitgum Central Police Station (CPS).
Authorities have assured the public that the suspect will face justice and called on the community to handle disputes peacefully by seeking mediation through local leaders or friends. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
