Happiness in society is frequently associated with sentiments of inclusion and belonging. When individuals feel that they’re a part of a community and that their needs are being met, their happiness levels rise.

Inclusive policies that guarantee underprivileged groups have equitable access to resources and opportunities are critical for increasing happiness in Africa.

While a child might describe happiness as having fun and engaging in a lot of playful activities, there is no denying that economic stability and prosperity are essential for happiness. This is more so considering that economic stability allows for the establishment of infrastructure and activities people of any age group would consider fun.

Additionally, people who have stable work, sufficient money, and the capacity to satisfy their fundamental requirements are more likely to be satisfied and pleased with their life.

For African cities, building robust economies that give opportunities for all inhabitants is critical to promoting happiness.

Also, the health of an environment directly affects citizens’ well-being. Clean air, access to fresh water, and protection from environmental threats are all necessary for physical and mental health, each of which are important components of happiness.

The list is focused on cities committed to cultivating and growing happiness, where education, inclusive policies, the economy, mobility, environmental protection, access to green areas, and innovation.

The list included 250 cities in total, four of which where African. Five indicators, including citizens, mobility, governance, environment and economy were used to determine the overall index. See methodology here…
