The Ministry of Works and Transport has warned water users that include Seafarers, fishermen and Islanders that the current inland water bodies in Uganda have high tides.
“In case of a water related emergency, call the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center toll free on 110 & ensure you get info on the current status of the lake before sailing,” reads the statement.
The Ministry has also warned Water travelers against boarding overloaded vessels, avoid night travel and always wear a life jacket, if one must travel.
Travelers are advised to call Toll Free 110 line in case of emergency that will link them to marine police for quick rescue.
