Lady has finally spoken out after a viral courtroom video showed her being sued by a man identified as Emmanuel, who accused her of collecting transport fare but failing to show up.
Speaking in her defense, the lady revealed that she had never met Emmanuel in person and only knew him through online conversations. According to her, Emmanuel insisted she travel from Asaba to Abuja to meet him, a demand she continuously refused.
“Before Emmanuel sent that money to me for transportation, I told him he should come over to my city. He said no, that he cannot visit a woman. Out of the blue, this guy just sent me ₦50,000, saying it was transport fare to come and see him. Where will ₦50,000 take me from Asaba to Abuja?” she asked.
The lady further alleged that after she didn’t make the trip, Emmanuel and his friends began threatening her over the money. She claimed that despite offering to refund the amount, Emmanuel refused and instead became more aggressive.
“What if I had gone there and something happened to me? You people would still blame me. Women don’t insist on staying in one place, you people will still talk. What do you really want?” she said in frustration.
She also disclosed that she eventually refunded Emmanuel a staggering ₦450,000, not just the ₦50,000 being widely circulated online. Additionally, she accused some individuals of secretly recording her despite a court order prohibiting filming during the trial.
The viral case has sparked heated debates on social media about accountability, online dating culture, and women’s safety, with many taking sides while others question the true details of the matter.
