Reopened
The store was finally reopened on Thursday afternoon. It had been shut down on Monday this week as Police pushed its managers to put in place better crowd control and antiterrorism measures.
Some of the new measures put in place include separating the entry and exits to the store. Guard rails have also been placed to help shoppers queue up in an organised way.
Fewer numbers are being allowed into the store at ago causing even longer lines outside.
Saha warns
While marking his belated 35th birthday this Thursday morning, Saha cautioned Ugandans to think twice before rushing to China Town for cheap products.
“I wish to remind you that cheap things are always expensive,” warned the singer in a live stream.
“You should not get too excited about that store”
“If there is plastic rice on the market, it will probably be cheaper than ordinary rice.”
The singer suspects the government has a hand in the opening of the megastore.
“Our traders were recently striking because of taxes, and now all of a sudden we have a new store selling goods at very cheap prices,” he remarked.
“They want to chase our people from the business when even this store will not be around for a long time.”
Saha urged his fans to “continue supporting our businesspeople” and not get swayed by the new store.
“You need to study how this frenzy came about and where it came from. Let us keep supporting our traders who have been giving us people credit in Owino and our other markets.”
Saha was treated to a surprise birthday at his home in Nakawuka, by fellow artists including Spice Diana, and Big Eye.
