Kenya’s Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino has responded to President Museveni’s accusations that he deals with NRM Opponents.

On Tuesday, 27th August, 2024, President Museveni who was in Kenya to endorse Raila Odinga’s quest for the African Union Commission Chairmanship, accused Owino of hobnobbing with his opponents.

Owino, the following day, took to the microphone saying President Museveni has overstayed in power and should be able to leave it for others.

“I respect him as my grandfather. The number of years he has served in power [in Uganda] is more than my years and therefore, there is a time and a season for everything,” Owino said.

Adding that whereas he respects President Museveni as a revolutionary, there are some revolutionaries who ended up very badly.

“Look at Mobutu Sese Seko (former president of DR Congo)….He came as a revolutionary but got drunk on power, look at [former president of] Zimbabwe….Robert Mugabe,” Owino lashed out.

Owino was not alone, another MP said he was shocked when Gen. Museveni stood before more than six heads of state to attack a person the age of his grandson, Babu Owino.

And they went on to remind him that Babu Owino and Bobi Wine are just generational vision bearers.
