Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga knows how to charm Kabaka’s kids

Prince Ssemakookiro had often been seen in public wearing a serious expression, so much so that people began to believe that was how princes and kings were expected to conduct themselves in public. However, this perception has not been independently verified by this reporter.

A few days later, the Kingdom welcomed former President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan. During this visit, the Prime Minister once again brought smiles, this time making Princess Sarah Katrina Mirembe Ssangalyambogo laugh heartily.

Meanwhile, Jonathan, who is the Chancellor of Cavendish University Uganda, was in the Kingdom to grace the university’s graduation ceremony. He was accompanied by a delegation that included King Amalate.

Taking to X, Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga shared that he informed the delegation about the strong affinity most African countries, particularly Nigeria and Uganda, have towards their nationalities—tribes and ethnic groups—because of the trust people place in their kings, chiefs, and other cultural leaders.

“It is important that we in Africa put a stop to the management style of post-colonial African states that ignores the role of kings and other traditional leaders. Their participation in emancipation programs is a condition precedent to the transformation that nearly all of Africa yearns for, as the people trust them,” he said.

“We have presented to the delegation our humble initiatives towards the social and economic well-being of the people of Buganda and Uganda at large, and we hope to find common ground as Africans to initiate meaningful solutions to our challenges, together.”

Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has held his position since 2013.
