KATAKWI: Two Bukedea District Women Perish In Fatal Road Accident after Women Conference

Two of the women travelling back from a Women’s Conference in Katakwi district died after Fuso Truck they were travelling in lost control on Sunday, 8th September, 2024.

 

According to eyewitnesses, the Fuso registration number UAL 522D, was moving from Katakwi district to Kachumbala in Bukedea district. Bosco Egasu, secretary in the office of LCI confirmed that to this website.

 

He said that the cause of the accident was over speeding.

 

“The incident happened at Kide village, Abela parish in Getom Sub County,” Egasu said.

 

Chairman LCIII Getom sub county, Hon David Eilor Kadogo, when interviewed at the scene said Abela parish is becoming a hot spot for accidents in his sub county.

 

He asks UNRA to come up with other strategies of controlling such incidents along Soroti-Karamoja road.

 

“At least let them put humps starting from Getom trading centre to Katakwi Technical,” Eilor said.

 

LCV Katakwi district, Hon Geoffrey Omolo, said the state of roads in his district is now in dire stage.

 

He therefore asks people to be calm as the doctors handle the situation.

 

Deputy RDC Katakwi Xavier Vincent Okwi confirms that over 78 women were in the Fuso.

 

He urged the drivers to be driving well while using roads.

 

The injured persons have been taken to Katakwi General hospital and Soroti Referral hospital for proper management.
