A Ugandan woman identified as Sonia has sadly passed away just five days after returning to Kampala, following four years of working abroad as a kadama (domestic worker).According to unconfirmed reports, Sonia’s death is suspected to have been the result of poisoning. It is alleged that the very person she entrusted with her hard-earned salary during her years of service abroad may have been behind the act.
Sources claim that this individual picked her up from Entebbe International Airport upon her arrival. On their way, they reportedly stopped at a restaurant in Entebbe, not knowing it could have been part of a calculated plan to end her life.Sonia later developed severe stomach pains and died shortly after, complaining of the discomfort until her last moments.
The incident has sparked sadness and outrage, with many Ugandans online expressing anger over the betrayal of trust and the plight of migrant workers who sacrifice years abroad only to return home to tragic circumstances.
Investigations into the exact cause of Sonia’s death remain ongoing.
