Police in Kyotera, Greater Masaka, have confirmed the fatal shooting of a suspected robber following a daring and violent raid at Mazima Bugagga Coffee Factory in Kabira-Kifuuta village.
The attack unfolded when five armed men stormed the factory, owned by prominent businessman Ronald Lubega, popularly known as Naadi. According to police, the assailants shot the factory manager before fleeing with Shs50 million in cash.
Responding swiftly, security teams pursued the gang and intercepted them in Kizigo, triggering a fierce shootout. One suspect, identified as Lawrence Ssenyuumu, was killed in the exchange, while four others managed to escape.
Recovered from the scene were two guns, a motorcycle, and other incriminating exhibits. The injured manager was rushed to hospital, though his current condition has not been disclosed.
Police have launched a manhunt for the fugitives and urged residents to report any suspicious activity. Authorities have also assured the public that intensified patrols and intelligence-led operations are underway to restore calm in the area.
Locals remain shaken, describing the attack as one of the most brazen robberies in recent years.
