JUST IN! Traffic Diverted at Mabira Section on Kampala-Jinja Highway

Traffic Police in liaison with UNRA have created a traffic diversion at Mabira Section of the Kampala-Jinja Highway.

 

The diversion took effect today, Tuesday, 26th November, 2024 which according to SP Michael Kananura, the Traffic Police Spokesperson is to facilitate road works along this section.

 

All Heavy Trucks Will be diverted at Nile Bridge towards Nyenga-Kisoga up to Wantoni in Mukono.

 

Kampala to Jinja Motorists will be diverted at Wantoni in Mukono to Kisoga through Nyenga to Jinja.

 

“Police along with a team from UNRA will be present to guide traffic movement & ensure the smooth execution of the road works,” reads the police statement in part.

 

Police appeals to all motorists to adhere to traffic officers’ directives, exercise utmost discipline and patience during the road works.

 

Meanwhile, UNRA says emergency road surface repairs are underway at Mabira along the Kampala—Jinja highway.

 

“The team is using a mix of specialized equipment including a pulverizing machine to reprocess the existing asphalt, mixing it with the underlying layers to create a stabilized base. Once this step is complete, a new asphalt overlay will be applied to finalize the repairs,” reads UNRA brief statement posted on X today, Tuesday, 26th November, 2024.
