Former Newvision Managing Editor, Robert Kabushenga has been dropped from the race to become the next Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) Executive Director.
Kabushenga was one of those persons that had been encouraged by Social Media followers to replace the disgraced former KCCA Executive Director, Dorothy Kisakka.
However, in a brief statement today, Thursday, November 07, 2024, Kabushenga says the Public Service Commission has declined to shortlist him for the post citing lack of requisite academic qualifications.
“I have been notified by the Public Service Commission that I do NOT meet the minimum requirements for the job of Executive Director of

. I do not hold a Masters Degree. For this reason I will not make the shortlist. I am grateful to all those who expressed their goodwill & support. So it ends here for me. In the meantime I will keep left,” he posted on his X-Handle.
The message he shares from Public Service reads;

Dear Applicant; Thank you for your interest in the above mentioned post. We evaluated all the applications unfortunately your application does not meet the minimum requirements.
President Yoweri Museveni fired three KCCA top officials following an IGG report on the Kiteezi landfill disaster on 24th September, 2024.
Dismissed were Mrs. Dorothy Kisaka – -Executive Director, Engineer David Luyimbazi – Deputy Executive Director and Dr. Daniel Okello -Director of Public Health.
The President also directed the Public Service Commission to advertise the positions of Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, and Director of Public Health, and appoint new officials within three months.
Meantime, the Minister for Kampala appointed the legal director at Kampala Capital City Authority, Frank Nyakaana Rusa in acting capacity as Executive Director two days after the dismissals.
Meanwhile, Financial Intelligence Authority boss, Sydney Asubo was shortlisted for two positions; Executive and Deputy Executive Director for KCCA.
