Just In: Former Attorney General, Kiddu Makubuya Dies, Family Confirms!

Former Attorney General, Prof Kiddu Makubuya has died at the age of 75.

According to family sources, Makubuya died today Monday morning after a long battle with a deadly illness.

Makubuya was first announced dead in June but the family trashed the rumors. “Prof. Makubuya is not yet dead as some social media platforms are putting it, it is only his health handlers that can pronounce him dead but we as family members, all I can say, is he is still sick and we pray for his quick recovery,” said a family member, William Ntege then.

About Makubuya

Born on July 30, 1949, Makubuya held a first-class honours Law degree from Makerere University, which he obtained in 1974. He later obtained a Master of Laws degree and a Doctor of Juridical Science, both from Yale Law School in 1976 and 1979 respectively.

He also attended Law Development Centre where he obtained a Diploma in Legal Practice between 1981 and 1982.

In 1985, he enrolled as an advocate of the Uganda High Court.

Political Career

Makubuya joined politics in 1988. In 1996, when he was elected as a Member of Parliament, representing Katikamu South in Luwero district, he was appointed State Minister for Luwero Triangle in the Office of the President. Later, he was transferred to the Prime Minister’s Office.

In the same year, he was appointed State Minister for Foreign Affairs, a position he held until April 5, 1999, when he was appointed Minister of Education and Sports.
