The Central Broadcasting Services (CBS) Radio has had its License reinstated after 14 years of closure.

The License was handed back to CBS today 7th August 2024 by the Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi in a ceremony attended by the UCC Executive Director, Nyombi Thembo.

While handing back the License, Dr. Baryomunsi urged all broadcasters to adhere to the minimum broadcasting standards and operate within the law.

Central Broadcasting Services (CBS) Radio mainly operates in Kampala and Masaka. It was closed on 10 September 2009 for inciting violence among the public. This followed the numerous talk shows on the radio that hosted people who were critical of the government.
