JUST IN: Bugisu Youth Symposium Slated for 12th September Called Off

The Bugisu youth Symposium which was scheduled to take place on Thursday, 12th September, 2024 has been called off after President Museveni called for its rescheduling.
This was revealed by Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, the Chief coordinator Office of the NRM National Chairman who has been the lead coordinator of this event saying the President has advised the meeting to be postponed.
“My fellow Bazzukulu and especially the people of Bugisu subregion, our Jajja H.E President Yoweri Museveni has guided that we postpone the Youth Symposium slated for 12th September, 2024 to a near date to be communicated. I thank all stakeholders for their input and let’s keep up the spirit.” Namyalo tweeted on her X Handle today, 10th September, 2024.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had plans of meeting Bugisu youths at Mbale secondary school to sensitize them on how to improve on household incomes and wealth creation.
Shaban Kachimete, the former Mbale Resident District Commissioner, one of the organizers confirmed the cancellation saying they are waiting for the President to communicate new dates.
He urged youths to be calm saying they have hope the President will give them a new date before the end of this year.
Emma Bwayo, the Namisindwa district youth Councilor says it’s unfortunate that the event has been postponed, but hastened to add that this delay gives them a valuable opportunity to prepare better and harmonize their plans.
He says the young people will patiently wait for the new date to meet with their national party chairman.
Bwayo says “Of course, there are a few important issues that need to be addressed as we await for the new schedule, particularly the need for deeper consultations regarding the MEMO. This will ensure that it adds significant value to the entire Bugisu region and aligns with the interests of all stakeholders.”
During the arrangement of the Symposium, there has been lots of fights between the organizers and youth leaders in Bugisu as each Clique claims as rightful NRM supporters to invite the President which might have caused this cancellation.
