A total of 197 lawyers have enrolled as High Court Advocates at the Judiciary Headquarters, Kampala.

The enrollment that was overseen by the Chief Registrar, HW Sarah Langa Siu, the Secretary to the Law Council, Ms. Peace Athocon, and the President Uganda Law Society took place today, 5th September, 2024.

While addressing the advocates, ULS President, Oundo urged the advocates to be prepared to exhibit resilience, competence and hard work, as these qualities will define their journey in the legal profession.

“So, if you get an opportunity to work with anyone, do your best. Let people know you as someone who delivers results, not just as a storyteller. To build such a reputation, you must choose it every day. You must report to work on time, meet your assignment deadlines, and learn to work with others. Understand that a difference in opinion is not a personal issue but a difference in ideas.”

The Secretary to the Law Council, Ms. Peace Athocon, urged the advocates to protect their reputation amidst the various temptations that may come their way.

She tipped the new advocates to be cautious over quick enrichment, as financial misconduct, especially failure to account for clients’ money, is a common pitfall in the profession.
