Bukalango, Uganda – May 9, 2025 — The Catholic community is mourning the loss of a beloved spiritual figure, Msgr. Expedito Magembe, the founder and spiritual leader of Mt. Sion Prayer Centre Bukalango. His death was officially confirmed by Fr. Pius Male Ssentumbwe, the Chancellor of the Kampala Archdiocese.
Msgr. Magembe was widely respected for transforming Mt. Sion Bukalango into a vibrant hub for prayer, healing, and spiritual renewal. Pilgrims from across Uganda and neighboring countries regularly flocked to the centre, seeking solace, healing, and a deeper connection with God.
A trailblazer in introducing charismatic worship within the Catholic Church in Uganda, Msgr. Magembe became known for leading powerful healing prayers and deliverance sessions, often focusing on breaking ancestral bonds and promoting spiritual freedom.
Throughout his ministry, he preached messages centered on faith, repentance, unity, and the power of prayer. Many have testified to the profound impact his guidance had on their spiritual lives.
The Archdiocese of Kampala has pledged to release funeral details in due course and has called on the faithful to keep Msgr. Magembe in their prayers as they mourn his passing.
Msgr. Magembe’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the enduring spiritual work of Mt. Sion Prayer Centre.
