Police in Ibanda district are investigating an incident in which a man allegedly severed his wife’s right hand in a violent attack.
The incident occurred on Sunday, 25th August, 2024 at around 5 P.M in Bufunda Cell, Bufunda Ward, Bufunda Division, Ibanda Municipality.
According to the Rwizi region police, the suspect, identified as Alex, reportedly attacked Catherine Mbabazi with a panga, accusing her of being involved in an extramarital affair.
However, it remains unclear whether the two were legally married. Mbabazi was rushed to Kasande Clinic in Ibanda Municipality for treatment. The suspect is currently on the run, and police are continuing their inquiries into the matter.
This incident follows a similar case in Masaka last week, where a man chopped off the palm of his lover, suspecting her of infidelity.
