Police in Kisoro arrested a 24-year-old man identified as Kwizera Andrew, for the alleged murder of his 72-year-old mother, Molly Nyirabirihanze, of Rukoro village, Cyanika Town Council.
The suspect quarrelled with his wife, prompting his mother to rescue her daughter inlaw. He allegedly picked a wooden stick, hit her on the head, she bled to death.
“Upon receiving the information, a case file of murder was registered to guide investigation,” says Elly Maate, Kigezi regional Police.
This is happening at the same time when Ugandas Chief of Defence Forces General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has expressed his concern over the cases of Gender Based Violence in Uganda.
He requested the police to take action against suspects as soon as possible adding that men and women are victims of GBV in Uganda.
The CDF also called for peace ahead of the 2026 Presidential elections in Uganda, he revealed that the UPDF is dealing with urban criminality in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Region, Wakiso District and Entebbe.
This is happening at the same time when the President of Uganda, his Excellency, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has called upon politicians to speak well in public.
