Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango says on 12 jan at around 1230 hours at Raja Chambers along Parliamentary Avenue, one Uttam Bhandari an Indian by nationality and the director of TFS financial services was shot dead by officer no.67029 PC Wabwire Ivan.
He says a joint team of security traced the suspect to Busia district.
”On 13 Jan, Flying Squad Unit joined the territorial police of Busia. On 14 Jan at around 0700 hours, Wabwire Ivan was arrested in Busia Municipality at customs by a joint team commanded by the DPC Busia SP Didas Byaruhanga,” says Onyango.
Wabwire Ivan aged 30 who was attached to CPS Kampala is currently detained at CPS Busia pending transfer to CPS Kampala.
Bhandari’s shooting came just days after State Minister for Labour Col (rtd) Charles Okello Engola was shot by his bodyguard, Pte Wilson Sabiiti at his home in Kyanja, a Kampala suburb on jan 2, . Pte Sabiiti committed suicide after the shooting.
On top of the above, a security guard was yesterday in Kalule Zone, Lukuli Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala District also shot dead by his colleague, over yet to be identified reasons.
