Rubirizi, Uganda – Police in Rubirizi District have arrested Julius Nyesiga, a 37-year-old resident of Nyakihanda Village, over disturbing allegations of aggravated defilement involving his own 14-year-old biological daughter.

The arrest, which took place on June 4, 2025, was confirmed by Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Apollo Tayebwa, following a complaint filed by concerned community members at Rubirizi Police Station.

According to investigators, Nyesiga had been residing with the victim at the time of the alleged abuse. SP Tayebwa revealed that the police have launched a full-scale investigation and emphasized that the matter is being handled with the utmost seriousness and urgency.

“We have arrested the suspect and commenced a full investigation into the matter,” Tayebwa told Nile Post. “We will ensure justice is served.”

Both the suspect and the young girl are set to undergo medical examinations to gather forensic evidence and assess their physical and mental well-being.

The incident has caused shock and outrage across the local community, with residents demanding swift justice and stronger child protection measures. Many have expressed concern over the safety of children in rural areas, where abuse often goes unreported due to fear, stigma, or lack of access to support systems.

SP Tayebwa condemned the act as both “inhumane and unlawful,” calling on the public to stay vigilant and report any signs of child abuse.

“Protecting the rights and dignity of our children is a shared responsibility,” he said. “We urge anyone with further information to come forward.”

As investigations continue, the police have reassured the public of their commitment to upholding children’s rights and ensuring that perpetrators of sexual violence face the full force of the law.
