The operation was spearheaded by Yahaya Were, the Deputy Mbale Resident City Commissioner, with assistance from the police.

The raid was conducted in response to a surge in thefts, rapes, and other criminal activities in the city. Among the items seized were marijuana, opium, aviation fuel, and dangerous weapons, including knives.

The arrested suspects are:

– Khaukha Keven, 26

– Musa Kizamba, 27

They are currently being detained at the Northern City Division Central Police Station.

Local residents, Simon Wedenga and Sarah Namataka, expressed their approval of the operation, hoping it would restore order in the area. They also urged the police to ensure that these suspects remain in custody to avoid undermining the impact of such operations.

Attempts to reach Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, for further comments were unsuccessful as he was away on official duties in Kampala.
