Eddy Kenzo appointed Senior Presidential Advisor on Creatives

Kampala, (UG): President Yoweri Museveni has appointed celebrated musician Edrisah Musuuza aka Eddy Kenzo as the Senior Presidential Advisor on Creatives.

Kenzo, the president and founder of Uganda National Musicians Federation steps in for the advisory role in a move that is aimed to bolster the music and performing arts industry in the country.

The news of Eddy Kenzo’s appointment for the big role broke Wednesday night at around 10:30 pm, and a post from the musician’s wife, Phionah Nyamutoro confirmed the appointment with a congratulatory message dedicated to her husband Kenzo.

“Congratulations on your well-deserved appointment @eddykenzoficial, proud of you as always ❤️,” Nyamutoro, who is also State Minister for Minerals wrote on the night. “Thank you H.E @KagutaMuseveni
🙏,” she added.

Kenzo, the founder and CEO of Big Talent Entertainment is an ardent and outspoken of the ruling NRM government and it is no doubt that the President has rewarded him with such a position, now that he is a husband to one of his ministers.

Kenzo’s music journey began in 2008 when he released his first song titled “Yannimba” with Mikie Wine. However, his breakthrough came with the release of his single Stamina. The Masaka-born musician backed up Stamina with “Sitya Loss” in 2014, a viral song which received international attention.

He accompanied the song with a viral video that featured the Ghetto Kids winning him the popular BET Award in 2015. Kenzo has also won a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award in 2018, and a series of Ugandan and African continent-based awards.

In 2019, following a split with then-finance Rema Namakula, Kenzo went to war with the late Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata regarding a video in which Kenzo claimed to have been disrespected by Muzaata over his relationship with Rema.

Trolls followed after the Sitya Loss star took to social media to air out his cries and grievances, but he would later turn against Ugandans expressing discontent about how they had quickly forgotten how high he had raised the Ugandan flag.

Controversially, Kenzo called onto the government in a statement that caught the attention of many, “Uganda Government, Where are you?” This prompted the hashtag weyayu which trended on social media prompting the President to schedule a meeting with him.

Since then, the Musician’s relationship with the Head of State strengthened, the former performing on several events where the President is the Chief Guest.
