Dokolo, (UG):- Members of Adeknino Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCO in Adeknino subcounty, Dokolo District have removed their SACCO Executive over extortion claims and appointed a new committee with immediate effect.

The Chairperson of the dissolved committee, Mr Tom Ayang and his team were removed following a voting procedure presided over by Elvis Odur, the Community Development officer for Adeknino Sub County.

This followed an order by Dokolo Resident District Commissioner, Barbara Akech at the emergency general meeting held Monday, August 19th, 2024, at Adeknino sub-county headquarters.

Akech stated that the voting process was convened following a number of complaints against the Ayang and the team over extortion.

“I have heard that for someone to get PDM funds in Adeknino PDM Sacco he or she has to pay 50000/= to the Sacco board. Secondly, I have discovered in some incidences two members from the same households have been paid. This is unacceptable in PDM,” Akech said.

The RDC also noted that police have now taken over the investigation into the matter and whoever is investigated will be liable for punishment.

Meanwhile, Ayang was replaced by Andrew Awany as the new Saco chairperson, assisted by Petolina Atim, Richard Ojok as general secretary, Evaline Amule Ocwa as treasurer and Patrick Moli as publicity.

Fredrick Ogwal Owiny, LCIII chairman for Adeknino Sub County, expressed optimism that the new executive committee members will not make the same mistakes as their predecessors.

“To you new SACCO executive, as you assume office, don’t mess up like the past leaders. Follow the PDM guidelines and be close to the enterprise group members, that way your work will be eased,” Ogwal Owiny said

Meanwhile, Elvis Odur, the Community Development officer for Adeknino Sub-county urged the incoming executive committee members to include Special interest groups among the would-be beneficiaries as required in the guidelines of PDM.
