“But I think we took long to make the decision,” Junior admitted.

He reflected on his close relationship with his father, describing him as both a friend and a protector, despite their occasional disagreements. Junior noted that Mirundi had always pampered his children, defending them even into adulthood, and loved them more than anything in the world, treating them all equally.

Joseph Tamale Mirundi, a former presidential press secretary and media advisor, passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 60. He reportedly succumbed to lung-related complications at 11:40 P.M. at Kisubi Hospital in Kampala, where he had been receiving treatment for over a month.

Junior confirmed that his father will be laid to rest on Sunday, August 18. The body will be collected from the funeral home today, Thursday, August 15, and taken to Bunamwaya Catholic Church for a service at 9:30 A.M. On Friday, August 16, the body will be transported to the home of his second wife in Kyengera for another mass.

The final farewell will take place on Saturday, August 17, at 9:00 A.M., when the funeral procession will head to his ancestral village in Kalagala, Kaliisizo, Rakai District, for the final mass and burial.
