BUTEBO

Ephraim Onywa, a resident of Takwana village, Takwana parish, Kakoro Sub County in Butebo district should thank his mother’s milk of luck after an angry mob descended on him on suspicion of stealing cows from a village-mate.

Onywa’s troubles started when police introduced a Canine K9 Unit after a case of cattle theft was reported in Takwana village. The dog tracked Onywa’s scent up to his house and even sat on his bed on Friday, 30th August, 2024.

This caused anger among the community who attempted to lynch him but was only saved by the police. His house did not escape the community’s fury, who set it on fire.

Samuel Semewo the police spokesperson of Bukedi North says that they rescued him and is currently at Butebo central police station.

He says that attempted murder Case is also being investigated vid CRB:025/2024.

Semewo however says that no exhibits were recovered from the home of the suspect.
