The rift between the office of the Resident District Commissioner Butaleja district and the LCV Chairman has escalated with the Assistant RDC, Jimmy Nambiro accusing the Higenyi Michael Bory of receiving bribes from locals.

Speaking to this reporter on Friday, 13th September, 2024 at his office in Butaleja, Nambiro revealed that Higenyi picked a Shs600,000 bribe from a one James Mudimbu of Kachonga, Butaleja district alleging a promise to share it with the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Butaleja district to help him win a “Court Case” land suit No.03 of 2022 at Butaleja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

Nambiro consequently issued a stern warning to Higenyi to refund the Shs600,000 within seven days or face the State House Anti-Corruption Unit.

“This puts the image of my boss and office of the President in bad picture. The office of the President has Zero tolerance on any corruption tendencies,” Nambiro asserted.

“My office therefore directs you to refund the said amount immediately and we are prepared to take decisive action against those who violate the policies from the Office of the President,” Nambiro warned.

Recently, Higenyi chaired District Council sitting where it was resolved that all the Butaleja District Assistant RDCs be moved elsewhere as they ‘learn’ what they are supposed to do.

Nambiro also expressed his disappointment with some Government local leaders and implementers within the district who have chosen to engage in corrupt practices thereby undermining the efforts of the RDC’s office to sensitize the community and ensure success of government programs.

He reiterated his office’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, emphasizing its critical role in achieving the government’s goal of socio-economic transformation.

“The community must aid in the fight against corruption in government,” Nambiro urged. “These leaders are meant to help our people freely. Everyone is facilitated to perform their duties, and all services should be provided free of charge.”

He called upon the people of Butaleja to remain vigilant and report any instances of corruption to the Office of the President (RDC) as the only way of fighting corruption in district.
