Bukedea RDC Flags Off East African Community Bicycle Riders to DR Congo

The Resident District Commissioner Bukedea, William Wilberforce Tukei early morning 31st, Aug 2024 flagged off a team of East African community bicycle riders to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The bicycle riders had a shelter at Bukedea Comprehensive School after crossing from Kenya.

 

About five countries are involved in the east African bicycle Tour namely, Uganda, Kenya, Tazania, Burundi, Congo and Rwanda.

 

This website learnt that on 1st, Aug 2024 the East African community bicycle riders started their tour in Burundi and connected to Tanzania, Kenya and finally into Uganda. They later planted trees as a significant sign for Uganda before crossing to the republic of Congo.

 

According to Mr. Tukei, lack of unity has made the African countries to lag behind because of lack of cohesion and unity.

 

He said it’s proper for African countries to come up with one currency for the betterment of Africa.

 

“United States of America is developing because they are united, my appeal is that let African countries also unite to have one currency”, said Mr. Tukei.

 

Mr. John Baptist Ssemujju, the country coordinator of east African community bicycle riders safari says their bicycle tour covers the aspect of climate, food security and peace.

 

He said so far they have covered four countries and aim to complete the sixth country by the 27th, Sept 2024.
