BUKEDEA: District Resorts to Boda Boda Riders to Deliver PLE Exams

Bukedea district has been forced to go an extra mile to hire boda boda riders in order to help supervisors deliver Primary Leaving Examinations to Kangole sub county schools after vehicles failed to access them due to poor road conditions.

 

On Tuesday, the education department issued a statement regarding the readiness of the district towards the distribution of the PLE exams.

 

Each sub county was allocated a vehicle and a driver, however some of the drivers in the sub counties of Kangole and Kamutur Sub County failed to access the sub county headquarters.

 

Mr. Stephen Okurut, DEO Bukedea says the district vehicles got stuck on the way and they failed to access Kangole Sub County.

 

“Due to poor road network, we were forced to hire motorcycles and casual labor within the community in order to deliver exams to hard to reach schools in the sub counties of Kangole and Kamutur,” said Mr. Okurut.

 

Bukedea district registered a total of 5,137 pupils out of which 2423 are boys and 2,714 are girls.

 

Michael Ocan, the Kangole sub county chairperson appealed to the school invigilators to provide additional time to the affected schools.

 

“We know delay of examination can cause panic amongst learners, my appeal to school invigilators is that lets add time to these learners in order to enable them write well on their exams,” said Mr. Ocan.

 

Mr. Ocan also urged the government to improve service delivery especially in the road sector.

Richard AKol, one of the parents told this publication that the sub county is facing a challenge of roads. He said most roads in their area are impassable.
