A 28 year old UPDF soldier has died in a fatal road accident on Monday night, 12th August, 2024 at Naboa Treading Center in Budaka district.
According to Samuel Semewo, the Police Spokesperson of Bukedi North region, the deceased who was riding a motorcycle registration number UDK 531C Bajaj boxer, blue in color was heading to the Mbale side from Tirinyi.
He identified the deceased as Alex Byakatonda a Samia by tribe and resident of Sekulo village, Kadimukoli Sub County in Budaka district.
It’s revealed that when he reached at Naboa treading center just near Vision High Secondary School, he tried to dodge an unidentified pedestrian but instead collided sideways impacting the rider to fall on the road and was smashed by a speeding unknown Toyota Hiace motor vehicle and died instantly.
A pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a not known health facility for treatment.
According to Samuel Semewo, the police spokesperson of Bukedi North region, Police reached the scene of the crush and retrieved the body to Budaka H/C IV for postmortem examination.
He says that the sketch plan is drawn and the eye witness statement is put on record.
Semewo says the deceased’s Motorcycle was towed and parked at Budaka police parking yard pending IOV inspection.
