Uganda National Bureau of Standards has implemented a change in the Road worthiness test/assessment of imported Used Vehicles.
In a statement issued on Monday, 25th November, 2024, UNBS says that effective 22nd November, 2024 all imported Used Vehicles from Japan, Singapore, UK, South Africa, United Arab Emirates and any other country will be assessed in Uganda.
These vehicles are subject to Inspection against Uganda Standard US 845:2017, Road Vehicle Code of Practice for Inspection and Testing for Used Vehicles for Road Worthiness.
UNBS also says that the Road-worthiness assessment shall be done at a fee of 140 US Dollars by UNBS Inspectors before they are released from the Customs controlled areas.
The statement signed Eng. James Kasigwa, the UNBS Executive Director, directs that only vehicles with a minimum of six months remaining to their 15 years of manufacture shall be inspected.
