NABUMALI, MBALE – Residents of Nabumali Town Council woke up to a chilling discovery on the morning of April 3, 2025, as the body of a 38-year-old man was found dumped near Nabumali Bible College Chapel.
The victim, identified as David Washume of Manga Cell, Mungoma Ward, is believed to have fallen prey to suspected thugs while returning home from a local drinking joint around 2:00 a.m. Authorities say his body bore multiple stab wounds, including a fatal knife wound to the chest.
Local leader Moses Kutoyi, LCIII Chairperson of Nabumali Town Council, described Washume as a respected member of the community and insisted that the area is generally secure. However, the shocking incident has left residents on edge, demanding justice.
Suzan Nambuya, a grieving relative, called on police to intensify investigations and bring the perpetrators to book. Meanwhile, Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, assured the public that further details would be provided after consultations with the Mbale District Police Commander.
Washume’s body has been taken to Mbale City Mortuary for a postmortem examination as investigations intensify into the horrifying murder.
