The death toll from the Kigoogwa Fuel Tanker fire has risen to 31, comprising 22 males and 09 females.
This has been revealed by the police Spokesperson, ACP Rusoke Kituuma in a brief statement today, 1st November, 2024.
“As of November 1, 2024, the death toll from the Kigoogwa incident has reached 31, comprising 22 males and 09 females,” Kituuma posted on his X-Handle.
The last time Police gave an update on the death toll was 29th October, 2024 where it stood at 28 after two more died at Kiruddu Hospital, a day after police had put it at 26.
The accident occurred at around 3:00 pm on 22nd October, 2024 in Kigoogwa Town when a fuel tank registration number UAM 292Q, from Kampala heading to Gulu overturned and caught fire in Kigoogwa town.
It is reported that after the fuel tank overturned and several people rushed to siphon fuel before it caught fire killing 11 persons on the spot.
Fire also spread to several shops and destroyed merchandise worth millions from nine shops.
