He among others, challenged Mr Museveni to waive his presidential immunity for a show-down in courts of law.

Bobi Wine’s letter follows recent claims by President Museveni that the opposition party rigged the 2021 election.

Museveni stated at an event to commemorate the life of former army commander Gen Aronda Nyakairima, that the NUP had stolen one million votes in the last election.

Museveni stated that as a result of the biometric election system, had obtained evidence of the NUP rigging.

I have the facts, NUP can take me to court and say that Museveni has falsely accused them, but that is what happened,” he remarked.

Bobi Wine in his letter dated September 15, challenged Museveni to waive his immunity to be sued in courts of law over the last election results.

Waive your immunity in writing so we meet in court,” he wrote

“If Museveni is a man, let him take the challenge and if he cannot, he should keep quite and swallow his shame,” added Bobi Wine at the press conference.

The NUP leader also daref Museveni to submit himself to an international audit for the 2021 election, writing, “We are ready to submit our evidence to prove the amount of rigging which you engaged in, as well as the other crimes you committed against us and our people. (For your benefit and ease of reference, I am attaching a summary of some of the crimes you committed before, during and after the election. We shall supply the evidence pertaining to each of these crimes before the Independent Audit.)

Should the results of this audit prove that we engaged in any form of election rigging as you claim, we should be prosecuted in accordance with the law. If on the other hand, the audit proves as we know that you robbed us of our victory and usurped the will of the people of Uganda, you must undertake to step down and allow the people of Uganda to be led by a government of their choosing.”

Bobi Wine went on to describe the president’s remarks last week as “even more shameless being made while honouring a distinguished man like Gen Aronda Nyakairima.

He however predicted that the president was unlikely to respond to him, let alone accept his challenge.
