“Besigye Is No longer A Member Of FDC” MP Yusuf Nsibambi Reveals Why

In a shocking revelation, Mawokota South MP Yusuf Nsibambi, a renowned liberal-minded leader within the FDC Najjanankumbi faction, declared on Saturday that Dr. Kizza Besigye is no longer a member of the FDC party.

This bombshell was dropped during an appearance on CBS’ Parliament Yaffee program, where Nsibambi was joined by Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, NRM’s Kasule Sebunya, and former Defense Minister Vincent Sempijja.

Nsibambi, one of the founding members who persuaded Besigye to return from South Africa in the mid-2000s to lead the newly-formed FDC party, cited the party’s constitution as the basis for his assertion. He explained that FDC membership is derived from two categories: lifetime membership and annual renewal.

However, Besigye’s name is conspicuously absent from the list of lifetime members, and he has failed to renew his membership in the past year.

“This means that Dr. Besigye is no longer a member of the FDC party,” Nsibambi declared, leaving many stunned by the implications of this statement.

The FDC party, formed in October 2005 with Besigye as its founding President, has been plagued by internal power struggles and divisions.

During the same radio talk show, Nsibambi made another startling claim: that Besigye and other leaders at Katonga are secretly plotting to sell off FDC party assets, including buildings and plots at Najjanankumbi, in the event of a successful dissolution of the party.

He cited Ingrid Turinawe’s accidental admission on a TV talk show, where she revealed that dissolution was the only way to access the funds needed to build a new party.

“I heard Ingrid Turinawe accidentally tell the truth during a TV talk show a few days ago and said dissolution of FDC is the only way they can succeed and have access to sell off the property. She said that is the money they want to use to build the new party which they are putting in place,” Nsibambi said.

Lukwago, however, dismissed Nsibambi’s claims, labeling the group that met at Katonga as mere supporters without the authority to dissolve the party. He also accused Nsibambi and the Najjanankumbi faction of being coup makers who leveraged their relationship with the state to capture positions and impose themselves onto the party.

Lukwago went further, condemning Nsibambi for “bastardizing politics in Uganda.”
