Andre Onana mobbed by Ugandan fans as Man United goalkeeper leaves stadium separate from Cameroon team – The Kampala Report

There was chaos as Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana attempted to make his way out of the stadium following Cameroon’s 0-0 draw with Zimbabwe in Uganda on Tuesday night.

Uganda has a huge number of United supporters – a Facebook group for fans from the nation has almost 600,000 followers – and there has been much excitement about the presence of Onana in the country over the past couple of days.

The Namboole Stadium in Uganda is hosting the home AFCON qualifying matches for neighbouring Zimbabwe after their grounds were deemed substandard.

That meant the United faithful in Uganda were fully aware Onana would be playing in the stadium in Kampala on Tuesday night.

He caused a scene as the Cameroon team arrived at Entebbe International Airport on Sunday with even airport staff and security wanting photographs.

There were plenty of United shirts in the stands as the Red Devils star kept a clean sheet against Zimbabwe.

Cameroon were unable to follow up their 1-0 win over Namibia from the weekend but multiple saves from Onana ensured a 0-0 draw with Zimbabwe.

And there were crazy scenes after the game as Onana attempted to make his exit and head back to the airport.

Hundreds of fans were waiting as Onana made his way out into the open, clamouring to get near the Premier League star.

He was quickly whisked into a Toyota Premio as army personnel managed to clear a path through the road, leaving the team bus behind.
