Popular young singer Felista Da Superstar has shared how a chance opportunity to perform in front of the late businessman Rajiv Ruparelia became a major turning point in her life, eventually earning her a fully funded education at Kampala Parents’ School.
Felista opened up about the experience during an interview with Andrew Iumba Katusabe on The Pan African Pyramid Show, where she recalled the challenges she faced before receiving the scholarship.
At the time, the young singer was enrolled at another primary school but regularly struggled to remain in class because her family could not consistently raise the required school fees. Being sent home over unpaid tuition had become part of her difficult experience.
Her circumstances changed after she was invited to showcase her singing talent at an event held at Kampala Parents’ School. During the performance, she caught the attention of Rajiv Ruparelia and his wife.
Felista recalled that the two were pleased with her performance, with Rajiv particularly impressed by her musical ability. His wife then asked whether she would be interested in joining Kampala Parents’ School.
For Felista, the opportunity was impossible to turn down, especially after seeing the school and its facilities.
After the matter was discussed with her father, the Ruparelia Foundation stepped in and offered her a full scholarship covering her education from Primary Five through Primary Seven.
The scholarship gave Felista access to an environment that was very different from what she had previously experienced. She described feeling excited about studying alongside children from prominent families, including those of government ministers and other well-known figures.
She was able to complete her primary education at Kampala Parents’ School without the burden of paying tuition fees, an opportunity she considers one of the most important moments in her personal journey.
Felista says the support provided more than just access to education. It gave her greater confidence and stability while allowing her to continue developing her musical talent alongside her studies.
Her experience also highlights the potential impact of educational support on talented children facing financial difficulties.
For Felista, the encounter with Rajiv Ruparelia was therefore more than a single performance. It opened the door to an educational opportunity that helped shape her future and allowed her to continue pursuing her ambitions in both academics and music.
