Police in Mityana are investigating an attack that left four people seriously injured at Stabex Petrol Station in Luswa, Myazi sub-county, Kassanda District.
The incident occurred on December 15, 2024, at around 1am.According to Rachael Kawala, the Wamala Region Police spokesperson, a group of armed robbers wielding machetes, iron bars, and hammers assaulted security officers and pump attendants at the station.
“The attackers broke into the manager’s office, accessed the safe, and stole over six million shillings in cash and smartphones,” Kawala stated.
The victims, identified as Wafula Magola, Ssenyondo Godfrey, Naphtali Emakol, and Yusuf Okiror, sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at St. Mary’s Clinic in Mityana.Police confirmed the arrest of one suspect as investigations intensify.
“We have launched interrogations and are critically examining areas near the crime scene. So far, one person is in custody and is expected to aid our investigations,” Kawala added.
Authorities have advised fuel station managers to close operations at night if security measures are inadequate, emphasising the need to prioritise safety.
