Police in Rubirizi District are investigating the circumstances under which a 44-year-old woman drowned in the Kyambura River and died.
The woman, identified as Jackline Kyomuzobe, was reportedly harvesting coffee at her home when she received a phone call from a woman named Valencia. Valencia told Kyomuzobe that coffee was being bought at a good price at the Omuruhita trading center, and Kyomuzobe decided to take her coffee there to sell.
Kyomuzobe told her daughter-in-law where she was going and promised to return home with a fish for sauce. However, she never returned home, and her family members filed a missing person report with the Nyakasharu police station.
During the search for Kyomuzobe, one of her shoes was found in a bar owned by Valencia. The shoe was recovered and taken to the Nyakasharu police station.
