The Kiira Regional Police Command is aggressively searching for armed and dangerous robbers who attacked Praise God Hardware Shop in Buwenge, Jinja District, on Friday, 4th April, 2025 around 8:00PM.
The robbers made off with an unspecified amount of money, shooting the owner, Bumali Mbadi, and injuring another person, Eric Matege and other customers.
According to Kiira Region spokesperson, SP James Mubi, injured victims were customers who had gone to buy hardware products at the shop.
The body of the deceased, Bumali Mbadi, has been taken to the Jinja Regional Referral Hospital mortuary, while Eric Matege is receiving specialized treatment at the same hospital.
Buwenge Police Station DPC, SP Morris Oyee, said police immediately responded to the scene after receiving a report of the incident. Oyee confirmed that one cartridge had been retrieved for onward submission to the Government Analytical Laboratory (GAL) in Kampala, where firearms experts will thoroughly analyze and document the ballistic evidence.
Mubi called on anyone with information about the incident to report it to Buwenge Police Station or the regional headquarters.
Kiira Regional Police Command, led by Charles Nsaba, stated that despite the unfortunate incident, the police continue to significantly impact the safety and well-being of the people and their property. As a proactive measure, the public is encouraged to remain vigilant and observe their surroundings closely at all times.
