A twenty year old Mbarara University of Science and Technology- MUST, Prossy Nahwera has been found dead in her hostel room in Western Uganda’s Mbarara City.The mysterious death has triggered Police investigations into the death of this student who was offereing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
The lifeless body of the deceased was discovered by her roommate at around 4:00 PM in their hostel room located in TASO Village. The cause of death has not yet been established.Nahwera was a first year student who had just reported for her second semester.
The body was transported to the Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death. Police inquiries into the matter are still ongoing.
SP Kasasira Samson, PRO Rwizi Region, confirmed the incident and assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted.
This isn’t the first case of University students being found dead in their hostels. In 2024, a student at Kampala International University (KIU), Western Campus, in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality was found dead.SSP Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson identified the deceased as Isaac Otieno Ochola, 33, a Kenyan by nationality.
Still in 2024, an engineering student at Kampala International University (KIU) western campus allegedly died by suicide.
Police identified the deceased as Boniface Opirin, a student at the university’s School of Engineering in first semester of year one.
