The Uganda Police in Rukungiri have registered a hit and run road accident that claimed life of one Kamugisha Naras a UPDF personnel attached to Masaka.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesman Elly Maate has confirmed the accident which took place at Omukatoogo Cell in Nyamayenje in Eastern Division of Rukungiri Municipality along Rukungiri Ntungamo Road where an unknown Motorcycle was involved.
It’s alleged that the deceased was crossing the road before being hit by a speeding motorcycle coming from the side of Buyanja heading to Rukungiri Town and he died on spot.
Maate told journalists today morning tgat the Police were informed, and the scene was visited, examined and documented by a team of Traffic Officers led by District Traffic Officer and the body was taken to Rwakabengo Health Centre III Mortuary for postmortem examination.
Maate explained that the Police are on look out for the rider and the motorcycle as inquiries continue and anyone with information that can help lead the Police to the clues, can volunteer such information so that the involved motorcyclist is arrested and charged accordingly.
