Shock and grief engulfed residents of Nkumba central zone in Katabi Town Council, Wakiso district after an unknown assailants raided the home of an innocent woman and brutally killed her in a gruesome manner.
The deceased was identified as Jacinta Nasonko 30, a mother of four children. It’s reported that the deceased was murdered in the wee hours of Sunday morning, 23rd March, 2025.
Prior to killing her, the assailants first telephoned her and upon opening the door they swiftly dragged her to a nearby cassava garden where they mercilessly feasted on her leaving her private parts shuttered beyond recognition . After shuttering her, they strangled her to death.
Locals learnt of the deceased’s death after seeing a lifeless body lying down in a cassava garden and on critically observing the body, they discovered it was Nasonko. They informed the area LC1 chairperson who in turn informed police.
Later, police arrived at the scene of murder and cordoned off the scene and deployed their sniffer dog which failed to trace the whereabouts of the assailants.
The area LC 1 chairperson, Peter Mponye confirmed the death and strongly condemned the incident. He challenged locals to avoid strange calls especially late in the night saying if the deceased had kept inside her house, she would not have been killed.
The area councilor for Nkumba central zone, Simon Muwonge, also condemned the incident and tasked locals to avoid taking the law in their hand but to always resolve issues amicably without taking away anyone’s life.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s body was taken to the mortuary for a postmortem as investigations into the matter continue.
