Over 50 households in Nabonga Sub County in Bulambuli district are in need of urgent support after being affected by floods on Monday, 25th November, 2024.

According to the affected residents in the villages of Bunambutye, Buwatuwa, Buwasheba and Bunamoni, in Nabonga Sub County, the rains which started on Sunday evening have left a devastating effect on their livelihoods.

Justine Musibikha, a resident of Bunambutye village says all her food and household items were destroyed and is now seeking government support to kick start a new life.

Faheera Mpalanyi, the Bulambuli Resident District Commissioner says the heavy rains led to the blockage of the drainage system on the Muyembe- Nakapiririt road which is currently under construction leading to the flooding and subsequent destruction of houses and property.

Mpalanyi says they have dispatched a team to assess the extent of the damage.

Bulambuli County legislator, Isaac Katenya says he has already engaged the Bulambuli District leadership to come up with a report on the disaster for urgent action by the Office of the Prime Minister.
