Man Struggles to Death Over Charcoal Sale

AGAGO: A 40-year-old woman, identified as Jenet Atuku, was allegedly punched to death by her husband, Ojera Alex, in Barajwa village, Adilang sub-county, Agago district. The tragic incident occurred following a dispute over burnt charcoal.

According to reports, on March 6, 2025, Atuku and her husband, Ojera, had been burning charcoal in the bush. After collecting and storing the charcoal in their grass-thatched house, they left to gather the remaining pieces. Upon their return, they found that their house had caught fire, likely because the charcoal had not been fully extinguished.

A report issued by the PRO of Aswa East Region indicates that Ojera later returned home to retrieve the remaining charcoal, intending to sell it for alcohol. However, a disagreement ensued when Atuku confronted him, tearing his shirt in the process. In response, Ojera allegedly punched Atuku in the neck, causing her to collapse unconscious.
