Police in Rukiga District have arrested a radio presenter after he was found carrying a toy pistol. The suspect is 27-year-old Daglas Natukunda, a presenter at Rukiga FM and a resident of Nyangorogoro Village in Rwamucucu Subcounty. He was arrested on Saturday afternoon, September 27, 2025, at Kyerero Village in Bukinda Subcounty. Police said he had the toy pistol tucked in his waistband at the time of his arrest.

According to the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate, the operation was carried out by the District Police Commander, SP Moses Karakire Musinguzi, and his team after they received intelligence that a man was moving around the area with what looked like a pistol.

The arrest followed complaints from residents who had earlier raised concerns during a community policing meeting at Nyaikunama football pitch. They reported that someone had been seen walking around with a gun-like object, which caused fear among locals.

Maate said the incident showed the importance of community cooperation with security agencies. He thanked residents for reporting the matter and encouraged the public to continue being alert and proactive in the fight against crime.

Police have now opened investigations to establish why Natukunda was carrying the toy pistol. Authorities want to find out if he intended to use it to frighten people or for any other reason. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
