Mbale, Uganda – Police in Mbale City have taken into custody a woman accused of stabbing to death renowned local entertainer Wanambwa Jonathan, popularly known as Gavin MC, following a heated domestic altercation.
The tragic incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at Gavin MC’s residence in Muyembe Cell, Maluku Ward.
The suspect, Namono Giladin, was reportedly apprehended by residents shortly after the attack and handed over to security personnel.
According to Elgon Region Police spokesperson, Rogers Taitika, early investigations suggest that the fatal confrontation stemmed from a domestic dispute. Police reports indicate that the altercation erupted around 9:20 p.m., when Giladin allegedly found Gavin MC with another woman. In the ensuing fight, the suspect is said to have stabbed the entertainer, who later collapsed outside his home.
Bystanders rushed Gavin MC to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police immediately cordoned off the crime scene, collected evidence, and recorded statements from witnesses to piece together the sequence of events. “Investigations are underway, and further details will be communicated in due course,” Taitika told reporters.
