Speeding Tragedy: Mother and Son Killed in Mubende Crash

A tragic road accident in Kisekende village, Mubende district, has claimed the lives of a mother and her son. The incident occurred on the morning of February 15, 2025, leaving one other person injured.

According to police, the accident involved a speeding Toyota Premio with registration number UBK 491A and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number UGD 627U. The victims died instantly.

The deceased were identified as Ruth Nabisubi, 46, and her 13-year-old son, Herbert Mukis. They were residents of Kangulumira in Mubende Municipal and were heading to their farm when tragedy struck.

Eyewitnesses reported that the car was traveling at a high speed before it veered off the road, hitting an electric pole and coming to a stop near a building. The driver fled the scene.

Police arrived at the scene and transported the bodies to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination. Investigations into the accident are ongoing.

Wamala Region Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala attributed the crash to reckless driving. She urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads to prevent further loss of lives.

Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the driver responsible for the accident. They have called on the public to provide any information that may aid in the arrest.

The police have also reminded road users to report any reckless driving incidents, emphasizing the need for responsible driving to ensure public safety.
