Two Kadodi dancers have been confirmed dead and other 13 in critical condition after a vehicle rammed into their procession along Bumboi-Lwakhakha road.
The accident happened on Wednesday, 6th November, 2024 at a round 7PM at Nangwasi Cell, Nabumali Town Council, Mbale District along Bumbobi-Lwakhakha road.
Moses Mutabingwa, the Elgon Region Traffic Police Commander says the vehicle number UBQ 028V, a Black Toyota Harrier was coming from the direction of Lwakhakha towards Bumbobi.
He adds that the Harrier’s tyre burst causing it to ram into the said Kadodi Procession crowd which was also moving in the same direction killing two male adults on spot and seriously injuring 13 others.
He says that the deceased have been taken to Mbale city mortuary while the casualties are at Mbale regional referral hospital.
SP Roger Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson has confirmed the incident saying the deceased and injured people have not yet been identified.
He adds that police are still investigating the cause of the accident but cautioned Kadodi dancers to desist from always dancing in the middle of the road but mind about their lives during this circumcision season.
