TOP STORY: “Tragedy as Kadama Returns Home to Nothing, Found Dead After Parents Squander Her Savings”

A heartbreaking tragedy has rocked a quiet Ugandan village after a young Kadama (domestic worker) returned home from the Middle East only to find her life savings squandered — and was later discovered dead under mysterious circumstances.

The 26-year-old, identified as Aisha (not real name), had spent over three years working in Saudi Arabia as a housemaid. According to sources close to the family, Aisha regularly sent money back home to her parents, entrusting them to save and invest it wisely for her future. Her dream was to start a boutique business and build a better life upon her return.

However, when Aisha finally made her long-awaited return, she was devastated to learn that all her hard-earned money — reportedly over UGX 20 million — had been spent. The money had allegedly been used by her parents to build a new house, finance local luxuries, and cover community debts without her consent.

Neighbors reported that Aisha was visibly heartbroken, confused, and emotionally shattered. “She kept asking, ‘How could they do this to me? I sacrificed everything,’” said a close friend.

Just days after returning, Aisha was found lifeless in her room. While the cause of death is still under investigation, early reports suggest suicide is suspected, triggered by depression and betrayal.

Her death has sparked outrage on social media, with many Ugandans calling for better financial literacy among families of migrant workers and laws to protect the earnings of Kadamas abroad.

This tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of the emotional and psychological toll that migrant workers silently endure — and the betrayal that sometimes awaits them at home.
